Microsoft Outlook prompts for password after correct configuration of gmail or google apps

Hi All,

you guys have setup your Google apps account properly by following instructions available at Google apps help and support center or check here.

But still you are getting this prompt as shown below for entering your password again when you test your account settings and you are unable to understand what has caused this.

So, all you need is to turn less secure apps settings on. For some reason, this setting is by default off in new accounts creation from past few days. Please go through steps below to resolve this problem.

  1. Open this link in browser or just click here, you will be prompted for your google apps email and password (if you are not logged in else you will automatically be taken to step 2 below) :

  1. You will land on less secure apps settings for your google apps account. By default, this setting is turned off. All you have to do is to hit the radio button in front of turn on as shown in below screenshot.

  1. Once you have turned on this setting, go back to your outlook account configuration settings, hit test account settings again, you will see both lovely green checked marks for send mail and receive mail.
