Microsoft Word Keyboard Shortcuts – Part 1

This article lists keyboard shortcuts that you can use with Windows.

New Document:

Open new word document file Ctrl+N. Press ctrl button on your keyboard and press n on your keyboard. Make sure you press both together.pressing only ctrl or only n will not open a new word document.

Open Document:

To open a document which has been saved previously on your system. Hit Ctrl+O. Press ctrl button on your keyboard and press o on your keyboard. Make sure you press both together.pressing only ctrl or only o will not open the saved word document.

It will open a popup box to open files.

Save the existing documents hit Ctrl+S. Make sure your word document is open. Then, press ctrl button on your keyboard and press s on your keyboard. Make sure you press both together.pressing only ctrl or only s will not save word document.

Save Document As New Name:

To save the existing document with new name press F12.

Print Document:

To print the document the shortcut we use is Ctrl+P.

Preview of Word Document:

To see the preview of document before print Ctrl+F2.

Cut:

To cut the selected text from a document we use Ctrl+X. First of all, select the text which you need to cut as shown in below screenshot. Then, press ctrl button on your keyboard and press x on your keyboard. Make sure you press both together.pressing only ctrl or only x will not cut the selected text from word document.

Copy:

To copy selected text from document, press Ctrl+C. First of all, select the text which you need to copy as shown in below screenshot. Then, press ctrl button on your keyboard and press c on your keyboard. Make sure you press both together.pressing only ctrl or only c will not copy the selected text from word document.

Paste:

Paste copied data from one document use Ctrl+V. First of all, copy the text which you need to paste in same document or any other application. You can do so by following above point of Ctrl + C. To paste the copied text, just place your cursor where you want to paste data and press Ctrl V.  Make sure you press both together.pressing only ctrl or only v will not paste the selected text.
